The Pirates QB will be Junior Keenan Sullivan after seeing limited time last season. Sullivan threw for 318 yards with 5 TDs in 11 games. Chrisian Myers, who saw time at QB has moved to receiver and will team up with “Super-Athlete” senior Rayshawn Elmore. Elmore, who is signed with East Carolina in 2026 was named UCHSF 1st Team after leading the Pirates receiver after 26 receptions for 347 yards and 7 TDs and rushed for 169 yards on 28 carries and 6 TDs in 2024. Myers and Will Taylor will try to take some offensive pressure off of Elmore. Taylor had 7 catches for 129 yards and 3 TDs in 2024. The Pirates will need to someone to run the football, and it may be running back my committee. Amir Sherwood-Saul is a newcomer to Porter Ridge and will team up with juniors Novian McGriff, Author Scott and Kameron Hayden as ball carriers. The Pirates kicking game begins with senior kicker Ryan Ladimir, who returns after knocking in 32-of-32 PATs and was good on 4-of-5 on field goals in 2024.
Defensively the Pirates lose 2 of their top 3 tacklers from 2024. Senior Will Taylor will be the man to watch on defense. 106 tackles for Taylor as a junior for the Pirates. Senior Dawson James will anchor the defensive line after 74 stops in 2024. Sophomore Makai Henriquez will team up with Dawson coming off an outstanding freshman season where he announced his presence with authority for Coach Hertz. The linebackers will be anchored by juniors Eric Henriquez and Grant Forest. Seniors Will Taylor and Dylan Blakeney are starters returning to the defensive backfield. If he’s not too tired, senior Rayshawn Elmore will be a rover in the defensive backfield and will play wherever is needed. The Pirates open the 2024 season at AL Brown on Aug. 22nd.
