Monroe (15-0, 5-0 *State Champs & Rocky River Champs)
The Red Hawks brought home a state title in 2024, but the 2025 team will look different at least offensively. The Redhawks graduated a TON on offense with the graduation of QB Kaegan Chambers (UCHSF Player of the Year), RB Zion Lindsey (1st Team UCHSF), & Jordan Young (UCHSF D-Player of the Year). Monroe has Jysen Shepherd and Brayden Grace competing against each other for the top quarterback spot to fill in for Kaegan Chambers. Shepherd is the younger brother of former Redhawk standount QB Trey Shepherd. A starter for the Redhawks has yet to be named. Nymir Kendall returns for his senior year and should step in to the starting roll easily. Kendall ran for 919 yards on just 78 carries and scored 17 TDs. Monroe did add sophomore RB Knowshaun Taylor who transferred from Parkwood after the 440 on 92 carries and 5 TD season as a freshman. The loss of Young to Ann Arbor will hurt but Bryson Simpkins added 415 receiving yards with 4 TDs on 24 catches in 2024. Junior Micah Allen had 102 yards on 10 catches
The Red Hawks defense lose 3 of their top 6 tacklers including Joey Shearin, who led all Union Co. in tackles with 151. Senior Jeremiah Lindsey will be the leader on defense after a 103 tackles & 3 sacks junior season. The Redhawks lose Braydan Smith (66 stops in 2024) to out of county transfer. Bryson Simpkins added 3 sacks & 27 stops in 2024. Outside LB Jamir Jackson recorded 41 stops as a sophomore and with Braydan Smith gone, he will be asked to make an impact. Senior Teohn Clyburn had 3 INTs as a junior and is returning in 2025. The kicking game is open after the graduation of Brandon Najera, who was 84-of-96 on PATs. The RedHawks open the 2024 season at Central Davidson on Aug. 23rd.
