The Yellow Jackets are back to their winning ways after 3 consecutive 10+ win seasons under Coach Deese. The Yellow Jackets graduated a lot and will look to rebuild in 2025. The QB position is a key with senior Josiah Oxendine (383 yds & 4 INTs) and junior Noah Furr battling for the starting job. Oxendine is returning from a knee injury last season. Kylan Polk will be featured RB in the offense. Polk ran for 437 yards and 9 TDs for Coach Deese in 2024. The Yellow Jackets graduated their top 2 receivers in Jerel Bolder (NC State) & Kemarion Massey. Ryan Walker is back after 347 yards and 2 TDs in 2024. Polk is a threat out of the backfield, 132 yards on 10 catches and a TD as a junior.
The Yellow Jackets return 4 of their top 6 tacklers from 2024. Junior Chris Baker returns with 81 stops as a sophomore. Curt Williams added 66 stops, and Danny Redfern had 59 stops & 2 sacks in 2024. Junior DL Kai Phinazee is a space eater (51 stops) and will demand double teams on the defensive line. Phinazee added 3 sacks in 2024. The Yellow Jacket kicking game will have to replace the graduated kicker Sam Mullis after a 50-of-57 from PATs and 8-of-9 on field goals. The Yellow Jackets open the 2025 season hosting Ashbrook on Aug. 22nd.
