The Cavs have a new head coach in Jeremy East, who takes over from Duke Howell after a 4-year record of 12-24 and finishing 3-8 season in 2025. The Cavs will need to replace last year’s Union Co. leading rusher Mason Iovino (1875 yds & 13 TDs), who set about every Cavalier school rushing record over the past 2 seasons. The Cavs will have senior QB Austin Davis under center in 2025. Davis connected 58% of his passes for 747 yards and 3 TDs & 9 interceptions. Davis was the 2nd leading rusher behind Iovino with 202 yards and 1TD. The Cavs will have a few RBs to choose from and see who wants the job. Junior Ajani Barow is the leading candidate to take the bulk of the Cavalier carries in the running game. The Cavs’ receiving crew will return 4 players who had at least 3 receptions last season. The leader returning is sophomore Jayden Perry, who had 16 catches for 151 yards in 2025. Aidan Burk had 10 catches for 207 yards and a TD in 2025. The Cavs kicker Perez Franklin saw limited action last season and was 2-of-3 on PATs and 1-of-1 on field goals.
Defensively the Cavs return 3 of their top 5 tacklers from 2025. The leader on defense will be senior linebacker Brady Williamson, who is returning after having 84 stops last year. Williamson was 2nd Team All-USHSF. Wyatt Edwards is behind him with 80 stops and sophomore LB Cobel Nkembeng with 58 stops in 2025. Williamson led the Cavs with 4 sacks in 2025. Ajani added 3 sacks for the Cavs defense. The Cavs had 3 players with 2 interceptions last season, but only senior Wyatt Edwards is returning. Edwards will anchor the Cavs defensive backfield. The Cavalier kicking game will have Brian Faulkner, who split time last season seeing time in 6 games last season. He was 2-of-3 on PATs and 1-of-1 on field goals.
