Weddington (13-1, 4-0 *SCC Champs)

The Warriors are coming off a “disappointing” 2024 season losing in the State-Semifinal game to Grimsley. The Warriors will need fill the loss at key offensive positions in 2025. The QB position is a 2-man competition with senior Walker Powell and sophomore Paxton Ladner are in competition. Powell has the experience after seeing limited action last season, playing in nine games where he threw for a total of 257 yards and 4 TDs. Whoever is under center will be protected by an offensive line that will be anchored by junior center Bryce Johnson. Johnson was all SCC at center last season. Returning in the backfield will be UCHSF 2nd Teamer and All-SCC senior RB Brody Anson, who led the Warriors with 800 yards rushing and 8 rushing TDs. Junior Anthony Barrino ran for 461 yards on just 61 carries and scored 8 TDs. The Warriors return the 1-2 punch at receiver in seniors Jon Manley & Kelson Tate. Manley had 435 on 22 receptions for 5 TDs, while Tate (UCHSF 2nd Team) had 395 on 38 catches with 6 TDs in 2024. Anson can catch the ball out of the backfield along with Barrino and both can be used as dual threats for the Warriors.

The Warrior defense will be as strong or stronger that last season with the return of the Harris twins Adian and Drew, both are headed to South Carolina in 2026. Both were named All-UCHSF and All-SCC as juniors. Aidan Harris was the SCC Defensive POY with 82 tackles and 13.5 sacks. Drew Harris was 4th with 81 stops with 7 sacks. Senior LB Thomas Davis Jr, who will be attending Notre Dame in 2026 will anchor the linebackers after a 62 tackle & 2 interception season in 2025. The Harris twins and Davis were named UCHSF 1st Team last season. The Warriors defensive backfield returns senior James Colonna after being named UCHSF 2nd team and All -SCC in 2024. The Warrior special teams will have senior Owen McNulty back with for kicking game for the 2nd year in a row. McNulty was 62-of-65 on PATs and 7-of-9 on field goals in 2024. The Warriors open the 2025 football season on Aug. 22nd at home hosting Mooresville.
