The 2011 UnionCountyHighSchoolFootball.com's Player of the Year is Weddington's Jeff Welch
Jeff helped lead the Weddington Warriors to an 11-3 record and into the 3rd round of the state playoffs in 2013. Jeff connected on 148 of 260 passes for a 57% completion percentage. Jeff set a Weddington school record with 2331 yards passing in a season while also setting another Weddington school record with 30 touchdown passes in a season. Jeff also rushed for 3 touchdowns. Jeff was named Player of the Week 2 Times in 2013. Jeff went on to play baseball at Furman College. CONGRATULATIONS JEFF!!
