2019 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2019 UnionCountyHighSchoolFootball.com's Player of the Year is Weddington's Will Shipley. Will had a tremendous year at Weddington by leading the Warriors to a 16-0 record and a 3AA State Title. Shipley led Union Co. in rushing yards with 2066 yards and 31 rushing TDs. Shipley is only the 10th player in Union Co. history to rush for 2000 yards in a season. Shipley was a major threat catching the ball out of the backfield for the Warriors with 30 receptions for 509 yards and 9 TDs. Will also threw 3 TDs on the season. Shipley scored 2 defensive TDs. Shipley sent the Union Co. record for TDs scored in a season wth 42. Shipley ran for a season high 256 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 3AA State Title game while being named Offensive MVP of the State 3AA Title game. Shipley was named SCC POY, All-SCC and 1st Team All-State. Will was named UCHSF Player of the Week seven times during the 2019 season as well as being named Gatorade's North Carolina Player of the Year for 2019. Congratulations Will!
